Not only are the following Toronto hotels close to the gay commmunity in proximity, but they are also the Toronto hotels close to the gay community in action. In addition to sponsoring such events as the Inside Out Toronto Gay and Lesbian Film Festival in past, the Toronto Eaton Centre Marriott has also actively advertised in print and online, with targeted diversity marketing message. The hotel has also been, not surprisingly, an active participant in the many same-sex marriage shows around the city. As with its sister hotel, the Toronto Courtyard Marriott, a hotel just steps away from the Toronto gay village, has been active with print advertising promoting same-sex and diversity marketing messages. It is one of the gay friendly Toronto hotels in the area, recently having played host to the same-sex wedding show in late June. Le Royal Meridien King Edward, nestled in the heart of downtown Toronto has quietly been making inroads into the gay community, carefully seeking out market appropriate media channels to suit the venerable establishment. To date, that has most often been achieved through diversity messaging in online advertising. The hotel has also played host to gay and lesbian organizations and events and is certainly one of the many gay friendly hotels in Toronto. The Holiday Inn On King, cusping the edge of Toronto's theatre district, the Holiday Inn was one of four gay friendly Toronto hotels who sponsored the Toronto pride celebration this year, wearing the moniker of "host hotel" for the week-long festivites celebrating this city's gay community. Last and by no means least, The Delta Chelsea, in close proximity to both the downtown/shopping/theatre core and a short, pleasant walk to the heart of the gay village was also a sponsor of the city's pride celebrations this year. Of all of the gay friendly Toronto hotels, the Delta stands out as one continually involved with sponsorship within the community including, of course, pride, the gay and lesbian film festival and other like events both within the community and within the walls of its venue. It is perhaps this longstanding commitment to and understanding of the community that lead the hotel to create a same-sex specific pride promotion.
